(Daytona, FL) - The 69th running of the Daytona 500 will not be held on Presidents' Day weekend in 2027 due to a conflict with the Super Bowl.
The Great American Race kicks off the NASCAR Cup Series season at Daytona International Speedway and will move to February 21st in 2027 to avoid a head-to-head conflict with the NFL Championship on February 14th, Valentine's Day.
“We have fans from all 50 states and dozens of countries who look forward to kicking off the NASCAR season with us at The World Center of Racing, and we know many of them make their travel and lodging plans well in advance for the trip,” said Frank Kelleher, President of Daytona International Speedway. “As the 2027 date shifts to Feb. 21, we wanted to give our amazing and loyal fans plenty of opportunity to prepare to be in Daytona Beach for the excitement The Great American Race provides each year.”
NASCAR's Super Bowl, the Daytona 500, was also postponed in 2011 for the same reason.
The rest of NASCAR's 2027 schedule likely won't be released until late 2026.
