Miramar, FL - Canada has launched a digital billboard campaign in several U.S. states — including Florida — urging Americans to reconsider the cost of tariffs.
One of the digital ads, spotted off I-75 near Miramar Parkway in South Florida, displays rotating messages such as “Tariffs are a tax on your grocery bill” and “Tariffs are a tax on hardworking Americans.”
The campaign, paid for by the Canadian government, is part of a larger effort to push back against recent U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods.
Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly confirmed the initiative in a post on X, stating that the goal is to make Americans aware of how tariffs directly affect consumer prices.
The ads have been strategically placed in several red states, including areas of Central Florida, Metro Detroit, and parts of Wisconsin.
This messaging comes in response to new U.S. tariffs — 25% duties on Canadian steel and aluminum that went into effect earlier this month.
In retaliation, Canada has implemented its own set of counter-tariffs, targeting nearly $30 billion worth of American goods.
The billboard campaign reflects growing tension between the two allies, as both nations take a more aggressive stance on trade.
With President Trump threatening broader tariffs on the European Union and Canada if they coordinate a response, the transnational economic standoff shows no signs of easing anytime soon.
