A Florida Highway Patrolman was laid to rest on Monday.

26-year old Zachary Fink was killed in a crash involving a semi along I-95 in Port St. Lucie. Governor Ron DeSantis was among those speaking at his memorial service.

"His pursuit of a dangerous felon cost him his life, but there's no question that his actions saved the lives of other people."

DeSantis said Trooper Fink made the decision to put on his uniform, knowing that it could lead to him giving his life for the safety of others.

Fink was pursuing 30-year old Michael Addison, after the felon had sped away from previous traffic stop attempts. The man was clocked at speeds of as high as 140 miles per hour in a car that was not registered to him.

Addison was eventually apprehended and is being held without bond.

Others speaking at the trooper's service included Congressman Brian Mast.

Fink received full line-of-duty death honors, including a flyover.
