A country music star raised $300,000 for two West Palm Beach public schools on Saturday night.

Luke Bryan appeared at the Jupiter Pointe Marina in an event made possible by the Save Our Musicians Foundation.

"I spent my youth doing fun plays all through high school and then obviously had my band. I think music is just a way to really expand what children grow into as adults. When you can put instruments in kids' hands and they go and deal with the stage fright and the fears and they go do so well, it builds confidence."

The American Idol judge spoke with CBS 12 News before band members from both Bak Middle School and Dreyfoos School of the Arts took to the stage as Bryan's opening act.
