Lehigh Acres, FL - A Southwest Florida elementary school teacher has been arrested and charged with one count of felony child abuse after being accused of assaulting students.

Adrean Johnson, a teacher at Harns March Elementary School in Lehigh Acres, has been arrested and charged after she was accused of striking students.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Johnson slapped a student in the face and struck them on the legs and buttocks with a ruler.

Another teacher reported that Johnson also slapped a student in the back and used a ruler to antagonize and hurt the child, who referred to it as the "Pow pow stick."

One of the victims has behavioral issues and still wears diapers, but never reported the abuse.

Two of the three student's parents wanted to move forward with child abuse charges.

Johnson posted bail while an investigation is ongoing, with additional charges being possible.

The school district took immediate action upon receiving information about the educator's actions and removed her from the classroom while the Special Victim’s Unit conducted interviews and gathered evidence.
