Publix Books Nearly 49,000 Vaccine Appointments In Just Over 2 Hours

Floridians trying to book a COVID-19 vaccine through Publix will have to wait until next week.

Responding to tweets from Florida seniors, frustrated over failed attempts to set an appointment to get a shot, the supermarket chain's customer service Twitter account noted that as many as 300,000 people were on the Publix website on Friday morning.

Nearly 49,000 appointments were booked in just two and a half hours.

Publix says that eligible Florida residents will be able to log on again at 6 a.m. next Wednesday Jan. 27, as long as they receive the expected vaccines.

Select Publix pharmacies in 18 Florida counties are distributing the shots, including all of Palm Beach County's 67 locations and 7 in Martin County.
