Hilary Duff is being sued by a photographer she confronted for taking photos of her kids.
In February 2020, Duff blasted the photographer, Darryl Wilkins, she noticed snapping photos of her kids, son Luca and daughter Banks, playing at a local park in Los Angeles with other children.
The Younger actress recorded the confrontation for Instagram, giving the photog a piece of her mind for photographing the children without her or the parents’ permission. Duff even called the “creep” out on Instagram for his “disgusting” behavior, accusing him of “stalking minors.”
According to The Blast, the altercation has since prompted Wilkins to file a lawsuit against Duff, who he claims slandered him with accusations of “reprehensible and despicable conduct including by innuendo that he was a child predator.”
The outlet also reports that Wilkins had been practicing photography at the public park before his run-in with Duff. At one point in the clip, Wilkins offers to present Duff his ID, but she rejects it.
"I'm not asking for your ID. I'm asking you to stop taking pictures of our 7-year-old children if you don't know anyone that's here,” Duff tells Wilkins. “I’m asking you human-to-human — as a mother — if you don't know anyone here, can you please stop taking pictures of our children playing football this morning?”
In his complaint, Wilkins states the Lizzie McGuire starlet made “false statements because Wilkins is not a pedophile or child predator and was attempting to take photographs as a photographer and not as a paparazzi or stalker or with mal intent or evil wrongdoing.”
Alongside Duff, Wendy Williams — who shared the story of her talk show at the time — is also being lumped into the lawsuit.
Per The Blast, Wilkins claims he’s suffered general damages to reputation, business, trade, profession, and occupation from the entire situation.
