Tekashi 6ix9ine Granted Early Release From Prison

Tekashi 6ix9ine is coming home!

On Thursday (April 2), a judge signed off on the imprisoned rapper's request to get out of jail due to 6ix9ine being at high risk of serious illness if he were to contract the coronavirus, TMZ reports.

The "FEFE" rapper will reportedly be granted a compassionate release, effective immediately, from the New York facility where he's been held, meaning, instead of serving the rest of his 2-year sentence behind bars, he'll do it at home.

Tekashi, who was set to be released from prison on August 2, will now be on a supervised release, TMZ reports. Adding, "during his first months of home incarceration, he'll have a GPS monitor and must remain at an address approved by his probation officer. He can only leave if he needs to seek necessary medical treatment or visit his attorney and he must get pre-approval from the Probation Department."

The decision to grant his early release comes amid hundreds of prisoners being released early due to the high risk of a catastrophic outcome if prisons' become overrun with inmates who contract the virus. Given that 6ixi9ine is a part of the at-risk COVID-19 group because he has asthma, which puts him at high risk of serious illness if he were to contract COVID-19, Complex reported on Wednesday (April 1) that it was "almost certain" 6ix9ine would get out early.
